What is Medicare Part B?

Medicare Part B covers services such as doctor visits, outpatient care, and other medically necessary treatments not included in Part A. Part B requires a monthly premium, which is determined by your reported federal income. While enrollment in Part B is optional, delaying enrollment without qualifying for a Special Enrollment Period will result in a federal penalty. The penalty is 20% of the premium for each 12-month delay in enrollment.
